In presenting the King Charles III Coronation Medal to Alberto Wareham, the Honourable David Wells, shared:

Alberto Wareham has been a leader in Newfoundland and Labrador’s seafood industry, carrying forward a seven-generation family legacy as President and CEO of Icewater Seafoods. Under his leadership, the company has prioritized sustainability and innovation, investing in state-of-the-art processing to enhance efficiency and quality.

His ethical leadership was evident in 2022 when he made the decisive choice to cease sourcing cod from Russia, securing sustainable alternatives from Norway and elsewhere. A strong advocate for responsible fisheries management, he has championed Canada’s Northern Cod Rebuilding Plan to protect this vital resource for future generations.”
