A respected and long-serving member of the Canadian Centre for Fisheries Innovation and the National Seafood Sector Council, his soft-spoken wisdom and commitment to industry stability and sustainability was second to none.
Icewater Seafoods purchase of Marel FleXicut the final piece of $10M Cod Plant Investment
Today at the Brussels Expo, Canadian seafood company Icewater Seafoods, penned an agreement with Marel to purchase the $1.6M FleXicut for its 70,000 square foot, world class cod plant. The investment is the final piece of a $10M multi-year investment in the Icewater Seafoods facility. Since 2018, the company has added leading edge heading, filleting and skinning machines, as well as a state-of-the-art Ice Management System.
Conditionally Repayable Atlantic Fisheries Fund Loan for Icewater Seafoods Improves Ice Management System at North America’s Only World Class North Atlantic Cod Production Facility
Today, as part of a multi-project Atlantic Fisheries Fund Announcement, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, announced a multi-million-dollar investment in a world class Ice Management System at Icewater Seafoods in Arnold’s Cove, NL. The total investment for the project is $4,454,000. Icewater will contribute 25% or $1,224,350, and the Atlantic Fisheries Fund will contribute the remaining 75%, or $3,229,650, in the form of a conditionally repayable loan.
Innovative Technology Helps Local Fish Processing Company Stay Competitive
Through an investment from the Government of Canada, Icewater Seafoods Inc. adapted innovative cod processing technology to improve competitiveness and maintain work for approximately 200 full- and part-time employees in rural Newfoundland and Labrador.
