There are hundreds of smiling faces in Arnold’s Cove this week as the Icewater Seafoods plant processes offshore Northern Cod for the first time since the Northern cod moratorium was called in 1992. They are cod experts, many of whom have been honing their cod expertise for 30, 40 and 50 years. They’ve waited 32 years for this week to arrive.

As the head of the family-run business Icewater Seafoods, Bruce Wareham was ahead of his time. His career in the seafood industry spanned 55 years, and his hallmark hard work and tenacity were the driving force behind the successful building and operation of a state-of-the-art groundfish processing facility. A respected and long-serving member of the Canadian Centre for Fisheries Innovation and the National Seafood Sector Council, his soft-spoken wisdom and commitment to industry stability and sustainability was second to none.

Icewater Seafoods Releases Statement on Passing of Founder and Chairman, Bruce Wareham
Bruce Wareham, well-known and well-respected pioneer in Canada’s seafood industry, passed away on January 4, at age 75, after a brief battle with cancer. Bruce was a long-time Senior Executive with National Sea Products Ltd. / High Liner Foods Inc. and ultimately Founder and Chairman of the Icewater Group of Companies.
